Birleys
Is this the greatest sandwich shop in the city? A New Yorker is the food of kings!!

Does anywhere else compare?

Had it just opened? The one near me was half price food for the first week when it opened up

Re: Birleys
The one near Cannon Street, I swear the other day the queue was ridiculous, stretched way beyond the pavement.

Are they that good ?

Used to go to one on Copthall Avenue 10 or so years ago - was great but gone now, then used the one on Old Broad Street but has a stupid queuing system. Def one of the better sandwich shops in London

Re: Birleys
The are 2 at Canary Wharf. i used to regularly get sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. The other sold salads and shit, so i avoided.

Re: Birleys
Their queues for the salads always seem to be longer than the queues for sandwiches. Never understood that.

Re: Birleys
It is good but not the best, there’s load of little Italian delis tucked away that do decent scoff, Earls off Fenchurch street and there’s a decent one round the back of Lothbury.

Re: Birleys
Used to be a place in the City which served roast dinners in a bap. That was decent but vanished a while ago I think.

Used to love this place when I worked in Canary Wharf. Great salt beef sandwich with gerkins and mustard. Their sausage sandwiches are great as a breakfast if hung-over. Expensive yes, but a nice treat on a Friday or something.
